Extra Baggage
August 10, 2015- I made a fascinating observation/life lesson today when watching a little 16? month old boy playing in a mud puddle. He loved splashing, playing, and sitting in the water, taking his shoes off and watching them float (they were Crocs), and just having a great time. He didn't want to leave. I did not want to carry his wet fully clothed body a couple of blocks away from home. We started walking and he discovered that he did not like that feeling, so he turned around and played happily in the puddle again, not realizing that it was the fun mud water that was CAUSING his heavy clothes and diaper discomfort. I got him, again, to leave the puddle, but he didn't like the walk, so he went back to the puddle and was happy again. I finally distracted him long enough (carried him by his pants away from me :-)) and we got far enough away from the puddle that when I put him down and he started walking, felt the discomfort, turned to go back to the puddle, and couldn't see the puddle anymore! So he kept walking. Life lesson: sometimes great and fun things are great and fun, but they could be creating extra baggage that will cause our future to be very difficult!
